//How Darius’s hive!story in D2 really mirrors Xivu Arath, how even after becoming a hive-specific predator, he’s still just a young man crying over the bodies of his family (who were killed by Xivu’s hoard in his hive timeline) like Xivu cries over Oryx in the Ghost of the Deep dungeon. //But I've also thinking about Darius being this bright, playful, downright jovial guy becoming something like Eris because the grief is just too much and he has to do something. He has to stop them. “I will never let you hurt anyone else!” Kind of thing as he goes out and begins his hunt.

//But as the days pass, as that one wizard in his timeline begins to “court” him, leading him to her in her own way, I can just see him subconsciously longing for his old life—to go back to his friends he knows are in the tower. But something else in him feels unsettled, afraid of going back and for no conceivable reason he can think of. Change? Rejection? Resentment for leaving? Withering bonds? Is anyone even his friends anymore?

//And then to be soothed by the wizard, to be so deep in his quest that simply the action of hunting hive keeps him to busy to feel his fear. Because fighting Xivu’s hoard is easier than facing the fear of going back and facing the consequences of leaving in the first place.

//As a bonus thought, you guys know how Darius's link to the force was cut off, leaving him pt much force-blind when he started out as a Mandalorian? Yeah, he did it to himself. He doesn't know he did it, but when he and the Heraldy family survivors were escaping, the pain of crashing and feeling everyone dying around him was so intense that he reflexively cut himself off from the force to save himself from dying with them. He did what only veilmen are supposed to do, which is why he needs a veilman to help him fix it. (Namely an old curmudgeon named Ledger.)
