⢠For a good memory that makes them smile
It hadnāt been the first time Cleverbot had seen Megatron, nor their first conversation. But it hadĀ been the first time the young scientist had talked this much, and the first time heād have to present his work to his lord. And he hadnāt been mentally prepared.
Heād stumbled over his words, stuttering and automatically slipping into too complicated descriptions, going into details which only other scientists might have found useful. He knew he needed to explain himself - after all, he had more or less locked himself up, working frantically and silently for orns. No one had known what he was doing, the space he had claimed for himself was a mess, and his doorwings had seemed to constantly be shivering. Now though, he had finished, and was nervously trying to explain his creation to his master.
āItās for security, my lord. Rays that will force any cybertronian they touch into stasis and lock them there. They can be secured in the hallways as grids, and... I have an idea to make it into a cannon.ā Finally, he managed to get the right words out, then immediately ducked his helmet. Now it would come: the critique. He had taken too long to come up with this. His work was subpar. He had used too many resources, they couldnāt be wasted on him. He had crossed the line and had stepped outside of what he had permission to create, who did he think he was? He had wasted his lordās time, and he hadnāt done good enough.
When a heavy servo settled on his shoulder, he had actually flinched, steeling himself for the worst. Instead, the hand had only giving a gentle squeeze, making it obvious that Megatron was very aware of his own strength, and of how frail Cleverbot was. The warlord was taking great care not to hurt him in any way.
āExcellent work, Ravage.ā That had been it. The first praise Cleverbot had ever received in his life. Later, Megatron had told him he was an important asset, that he was to be made an officer, and that he would have access to the resources and workspace he required. But right now, it was only those three words, settling deep into Cleverbotās spark like a seed, blossoming into an undying devotion and loyalty.Ā
