because the marston family turned themselves into wolves and weren’t born that way, there are some significant differences between marston wolves and other types of werewolves or ‘true wolves’.
they have signature blonde hair, such a light blonde color that when they shift into wolves they have white fur.
marstons have nothing that would show they are werewolves as humans. as wolves they are slightly smaller than most wolves and are recognized that way.
where a true werewolf would be born as a wolf, a marston has to kill someone in a sort of ritual to trigger the spell put in place but their ancestors. cassidy did this willingly but clytemnestra declined and has continued to do so, happy to be a witch.
a woman can become a werewolf if she becomes pregnant by a true wolf. it is how elena became a werewolf. however if cassidy were to fall pregnant to a true werewolf, the pregnancy would kill her. they aren’t sure how it would impact clytemnestra but assume it would result in death as well. it is because of this that there has always been a strict no dating werewolves policy in place for the marston girls.
cassidy experiences increased bloodlust not just on full moons but most of the time due to her wolf lineage. the more full the moon is the worse her blood lust is. this was true for all the wolves within the marston clan.
