7. list three honest flaws your character has & talk about how those flaws makes them problematic.
he’s cold. he values logic & reason over feelings, whether they be his own or others’, & seldom takes them into account when he carries out his plans —— something that immediately comes to mind is when he separates katniss & peeta in the last hours of the quell. furthermore, he finds something admirable in his own ability to suppress his emotions, another issue in & of itself, & while he doesn’t necessarily hold those who can’t do the same in disdain, per se, there’s something unintentionally demeaning in how he pities them.
he’s idealistic. a natural thinker & doer, beetee tends to think of the BIG PICTURE ; eyes on the forest, not the trees, a bit like plutarch heavensbee. his goals are never malicious in intent —— in fact, more often than not, they’re usually designed with helping others in mind —— but in his determnination to reach them, there’s a very thin, very malleable line between what he will & won’t do. simply put, he thinks in terms of the greater good, & similarly to the above, he doesn’t always consider the personal cost for himself or others. with the liberation of panem in mind, for example, he builds weapons & bombs for district thirteen knowing that the rebels will use them with little discretion, & it’s only after the rebel medics, specifically prim everdeen, are killed does he realize what a terrible decision that was. (following this point, after the war he becomes much more hesitant & even cynical in his thinking, & wants as little to do with the government as possible.)
he’s blunt. somewhat stemming from the first point, beetee can be near tactless what he says to others. he almost never intends to be rude, of course ; it’s simply that he doesn’t realize there are some thingsyou just don’t say aloud. fortunately for the rebel movement, most of this pertains to personal conversations only —— he knows not to go shooting his mouth off about their plans to overthrow the capitol to anyone who cares, but if you ask him if your bedridden grandmother is going to die, he’ll probably tell you yes & think nothing of it.
12. what’s your biggest pet peeve when it comes to the fandom you rp in?
s i g h s. well, let’s see. there’s no shortage of cliques in the thg fandom, if i’m honest ; i’m obviously not going to name names, but trust me, they’re there. i’ll leave it at that. in a broader sense, there are some popular characters / ships / headcanons / etc. that are almost impossible to critique without some sort of backlash. for the most part, any character or ship with great long posts about how this character gets so much fandom hate!!! or LIST OF THINGS THE FANDOM FORGETS ABOUT THIS CHARACTER!!!! or awhole bunch of annoyed looking gifs with captions of childishly bad things that no one’s ever said about some character, etc. —— yeah, you get the idea, right? fan favorites that the fans like to pretend get tons of hate, when the very little attention that’s not positive that character gets is either someone being neutral towards them (usually interpreted as hate, because how can you not love this character), or realistic critique. so, tl;dr, there’s a lot of fandom worship of certain characters / ships & it’s actually made me dislike a lot of them.
