Since she had gone on her medication, began seeing a psychiatrist and had moved to Seoul, Ivy’s anxiety had improved so much. Finally, she was able to do things she never thought she’d do and experience things she hadn’t experienced in a long time. It was like a whole new world to her. Though she wasn’t completely cured, her anxiety was at least bearable to the point where she was able to live again. That, however, was almost jeopardized in a small fire that had occurred recently.
During the fire at the management company Ivy belonged to, her anxiety had come in full force and all she could do was huddle in a corner and pray. Tears had filled her eyes and soaked her cheeks as she thought about what a shame it was her life had to end when it had just begun again. Thankfully, one of the firefighters came in and rescued her. His heroics didn’t stop there as, even after the fire was long put out, he stayed with her to make sure she recovered properly.
Ivy was someone who had high respect for those who were in life saving careers, especially if it was endangering to they themselves. Though she also knew that genuinely kind people were rare to come by. After her recovery she made sure to go down to where he worked and thank him personally, she didn’t have the chance to do so before due to the shock of the whole incident.
She was shocked when he invited her out to lunch after she expressed her gratitude. He had already done so much for her but she happily accepted. It wasn’t often that she got to go out with someone, she was still somewhat of a homebody. After arriving at the location of their lunch date, they both sat down and Ivy began looking at the menu.
“Thank you for inviting me out, you’re so kind. This really isn’t necessary though, I’m fine now!” Despite him offering of his own free will to take her out to lunch, Ivy still felt like he had been pressured. This, of course, was a combination of the left-over effects of her anxiety and her low self-esteem. She knew he probably already knew she had recovered fully, but there was just that part of her that felt the need to blurt it out anyways.
