elizabeth can have romance in her life. there isn’t fault in that. but for the writers to ruin a strong independent woman embracing the west frontiers to follow her dreams of becoming a teacher by having her have to make a choice between two pining suitors who clearly have no real chance with her; because she might still be grieving the death of her husband. is wrong.
elizabeth thornton is an excellent teacher; a great friend and mentor to the children she teaches. she manages to turn grieving sad and confused children of coal valley into prosperous young minds capable of anything.
she had a husband and she has a son but she also has a family within the community. she doesn’t really need to find love again; she had that great romance she’d probably read about in books.
at the end of the day she’d already proved she could make a life for herself without her father’s money or any financial gain. having a man by your side isn’t needed nor required for her to make a difference in the world.
this wishy washy nonsense about team lucas or team nathan, doesn’t really help.
i’m noticing as i rewatch the show, that they’re reusing storylines in one way or the other, (anyone remember billy hamilton) which is sort of similar to the lucas and nathan plot
