owners rabbot x puppy langtaker | cw for sfw puppy play/puppy regression. daddy and papa used to refer to robby and jack respectively.
Robby gave up on quiet mornings a long time ago. The sound of bare feet on hardwood echos from the living room, mixing with panting and giggled yips.
Maybe it wasnât such a bad trade since he gets to spend his days off with two sweet puppies. He takes a long sip of his coffee, dropping the newspaper onto the table with a content sigh.
He is just about to remind the pups to keep it down since Jack was asleep in the bedroom, having only returned from his night shift a few hours prior.
Unfortunately, a crash beats him to the punch, followed by a wail of âDaddy!â and Frankâs voice cutting in with a soft defense of âI was being careful!â
When Robby steps in the living room, he easily finds two puppies curled up on the floor together. Both dressed in just their boxers and collars, tails peeking out from behind them and ears.. well, Frankâs ears are still on. Denâs had came off in his tumble.
Frank is holding a sobbing Dennis in his lap, nuzzling and licking at his tearstained cheeks. Itâs easy to see that Dennis was more startled than actually hurt but Robby smiles at the display. He crouches down in front of the them, placing Denâs ears back atop his head.
âNow what happened here?â Robby coos, letting Dennis launch himself into his arms. The older man rubs pupâs back, looking to Frank for some clarity.
âW-We were playing chase and Dennyâs paw got caught on the rug.â Frank looks sheepishly apologetic as he would never purposely cause his little brother to get hurt. Crawling closer to Robby, he accepts pets from Robbyâs free hand as he snuggles against his daddyâs side.
It had taken time for them to get their dynamic to this point. First, overcoming Frankâs addiction and the strain that put on their relationship, then getting the two pups used to sharing Daddy and Papaâs attention. It hasnât been easy but once it clicked, the pups became inseparable.
âThis is why we only play chase outside, especially while Papa is sleeping.â Robby scolds, struggling to hide his smile as Frank grumbles that it was Dennisâ idea! The younger pupâs cries had softened to the occasional whimper and he was pouting at Frank with a look that told Robby that Dennis had definitely been the one to initiate a game of chase.
âDonât be so hard on them, Mikey.â Jack says low, exhaustion still written on his face as he walks in using his crutch. They all knew that Jack never slept much, usually only a few hours at a time.
Jack stops to pet Frank, hand sliding from the pupâs collar up to his ears. Both pups were looking up at him like he had hung the moon, fall already forgotten.
âWhoâs ready for breakfast?â Jack murmurs, walking to the kitchen with the puppies following close behind.
Robby shakes his head, knowing that theyâre going to sit at Jackâs feet, being hand fed cheese and pieces of ham as Jack makes omelets. He can practically hear his husband now, justifying it because heâs gotta pay puppy taxes!
Later, when Robby finishes doing the dishes from breakfast, he walks back into the living room to find Jack asleep, one hand on each pup, head back and his mouth open as he snores. Dennis is snuggled against his side, half asleep with his worn out stuffie tucked under his arm and Frankâs head is on Jackâs lap as he gnaws on a chew toy.
Yep, these moments make all the pup induced chaos worth it.
