The MTA has many unused real estate assets, such as abandoned NYC subway stations. How much could they earn from leasing the space for an underground restaurant, bar, museum, or other public/private venue? Sound-proof glass barriers could be installed between the platform and tracks and it could be quite an interesting location for visitors, and also subway riders looking in at the space! Or if that's too complicated for the MTA to manage, bright advertisement screens could be installed on the walls (and maintained from the platforms without needing track access). Everybody wins!
