Grumble grumble under the cut!
So lately I've been kind of agitated that my social life is way more stagnant than I wish it were. I feel like this might result from a combination of my best friend being mostly unavailable to hang out with lately and Skypes with my Internet best friends also being almost completely absent for the past few weeks. It's kind of hitting me that aside from those two groups, I don't have any friends I'm *really* close to.
There are people I see and enjoy being around in my day to day life, within the Computer Science community and the show I'm doing, but none of them are people I really hang out with outside of those respective contexts and most of the free time I do have winds up being spent on the computer in my room by myself. There are cool people I like to hang out with in Lexington about 30 minutes away, but I feel like I have to set aside a special day to do so and schedules have to line up and it winds up being a huge pain.
And it's weird because I'm not a shy person and I really don't have that much social anxiety like I used to, but I still feel like I'm stuck at home when nothing's going on and I don't have anybody I can immediately reach out to and be more socially active with. There's also the issue that I don't drink and I really don't like bars or College parties or loud, crowded events. So people who socialize almost exclusively in those contexts feel virtually inaccessible to me.
It's been this way for a very long time and I don't know what I can do to fix it. I love everything I'm doing in school and all the projects I'm working on and I wouldn't change them for the world, but it's becoming more and more stressful once the day ends and I go home and I'm just in my room by myself again. And then on weekends I just do whatever chores or shopping need to be done and pretty much wind up wasting the entire day.
Also, it's still Winter and it's cold and I really hate it.
