Breaking News - Washington Navy Yard Shooting
Today the FBI released footage of Navy Yard gunman Aaron Alexis seen running around the Navy yard on September 16, just moments before he opened fire and killed 12 people.
Investigators continue to explore the motive behind Alexis' rampage but have made statements that he had a documented history of mental illness.
Alexis was killed in a shootout with police after spending an hour exchanging gun fire with them. It is still unknown how Alexis got the credentials and security clearance to enter the base and there have been calls for a review of the government vetting of private contractors.
At the service held for those who lost their lives in the shooting President Obama made an impassioned plea for a change in the gun control laws.
