for the ask meme (I KNOW it's gonna cause beef so you don't need to answer/answer publicly): od/azai? you're the only person I've ever seen with it in your dnfi and I wanna know if I found another person with sane morals
oh man... i obviously do NOT like od.azai, and there are multiple reasons for that:
1. oda and dazai met when oda was 21 and dazai was 16... i’m really not a fan of ships where one character was a minor and the other was an adult when they first met, it’s along the same lines of why ats.ukyou is still bad even if we age them up, yknow? it’s a predatory dynamic when you make it romantic.
2. every od.azai fan i’ve seen/met is a freak who obsesses over the wangst potential of their relationship, like the beast novel for example. i don’t really see a genuine appreciation for how oda helped dazai in getting him to leave the mafia from them. and not to mention i haven’t seen much fan content of od.azai but the stuff i have seen... terrible.
and i personally think it‘s a disservice to their characters to (only) see them in a romantic light, oda was first and foremost a mentor/friend to dazai and he definitely wouldn’t be taking advantage of a 16yo who he actually cared about. i also don’t think dazai was secretly in love with oda just because he cared about him lmao.
[bsd spoiler] the last anon has actually heard correctly, chuuya canonically has a brother! it's not that wide-known yet bc it was revealed in the extra chapter of fifteen that has been translated by fans like two weeks ago? anyway the brother is verlaine aka rimbaud's ex partner and no one knows how to feel about that :^)
