I drew you a Vephar and wrote you a blurb because I love you. Hope you like <33
A drawing hangs in a museum in Liyue, one of several portraits of a beautiful maiden that appears in other drawings through the ages. A maiden with similar hair and eyes is seen in other time period exhibits in the Liyue Museum. Evidence indicates this is intended to be a drawing of Vephar, the Goddess of Love, renowned for her prevailing affection for her husband, Rex Lapis. Couples visit this portrait often in hopes of the superstition that walking past the portrait and holding hands as you walk through the hall, beginning to end, you will have a long, prospering marriage together.
On the plaque below the large portrait, it reads, “The piece, titled “Vephar, In All Her Beauty,” and alternately nicknamed “The Saddest Maiden” depicts what appears to be the goddess of love “Vephar,” looking downcast and hopeless. Her eyes are looking low and her face void of the smile seen in other depictions. In many depictions, she is seen at the side of her most beloved Rex Lapis, her husband. Some say this drawing is intended to show how lonely she is without him. The drawing is estimated around 200 years old and appears to be well-preserved.
To see other depictions of Rex Lapis and wife Vephar, please refer to the Liyue Museum Directory to see the other depictions per time period.
This piece is donated by Zhongli of Liyue’s Wangsheng Funeral Parlor. The Museum of Liyue thanks Zhongli for his generosity. For other pieces donated by Zhongli depicting Rex Lapis and Vephar’s love story, please refer to the museum directory. In donating this piece, he dedicates this donation to his beloved wife, (y/n).”
