In reply to your Native American question: It wasn't until the 1970-ish that there was a move to document stories and ancestry lines of Native Americans. Most stories and history and language translation has slowly been written into books that are very hard to find online. (Source: Lakota Native American that married into the family, could be inaccurate.)
