Forgiveness and Redemption [ Emmeryn | Atterria ]
a-hard-miracle:
Emmeryn was silent for a moment. After a short pause she let out a small sigh. “I know… There was nothing… You could d-do… So I do not blame… You, but take your time… Easing yourself. I know… My being here… Is a permanent reminder… Of what… Guilts you…” Emmeryn smiled lightly. Her smile was an innocent, good natured smile that was filled with pure compassion for for the tactician before her, yet also a smile to show strength of emotion and exemplify that there were no hard feelings as if to tell the girl that since she wasn’t unhappy, the other woman shouldn’t be either.
She sighed again silently for a moment, her smile fading, before stepping towards the woman. “I don’t like… To see you unhappy like… This… Please don’t… Cry, or I will.. Too…” Her words trailed off and she hugged the girl before her. Although it was a light hug, it felt as if a thousand feelings transferred between the two. She closed her eyes and her smile returned to her face as the other girl’s head rested upon her shoulder. “You’re very… Precious… To me… I forgive you… Please, take… My forgiveness… So that you… May see… Past this, as I… Have…”
Ever since the day they had found Lady Emmeryn in that mountain side village, Atterria had taken it upon herself to avoid her. It had been cowardly but Atterria just hadn’t been able to deal with the pain and anguish she received whenever she laid eyes upon the royal’s face. She had seen Emmeryn fall that day; she had heard the body hit the ground with a loud thump that still rang in her nightmares. Seeing a ghost of the past had become too much bear at once point that she had nearly done the unthinkable but now…
Atterria raised her gaze yet again, only to be pulled into a warm and tender hug. At first she did nothing but all too soon was inclined to respond according with a hug of her own, she still felt no strength in her legs but she did her best. This was the same woman she had wronged, and she was forgiving her for her greatest mistake; even if she were unworthy… she was still giving it. Emmeryn was truly an angel; a gift sent from above that deserved only the best and by far Naga’s most beloved daughter.
“Thank you…” the tealette whispered again, the tears had subsided but traces still remained, “—thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank y—“ She continued to mutter it over and over like chanting a spell, “I won’t fail you, your family or Ylisse every again…”
