Ok I just went insane in a post about this but The Truman Show is just... the greatest movie ever made.
The cinematography is incredible, the acting is amazing, Jim Carrey is hilarious in it.
But it goes beyond that.
And I think the best way to explain that is the ending.
Imagine hearing the voice of your god, after learning that everything you have ever known was a lie. You can choose to live in blissful ignorance, to pretend you never knew about any of it. Or, you can ascend! Literally ascend! Up the stairs to the truth, to the real world! Exit a fake reality and embrace what is real and true! You are faced between vast, unknowable darkness, and divine light that claims it gives hope and joy to millions, selfish hope.
And you can choose here. You are the only real thing here. And you can choose to exist in blissful lye. Or truthful, terrifying reality.

I JUST- UTRJHDFXCHDGFDSHGSGH It makes me cry so hard bro. I love this movie. I saw this for the first time my senior year of high school and it is what made me dig my heels in and decide that film IS what I'm doing. It's just... it's incredible.
