Just because you’ll probably hear of this today and take your conclusions from sensationalist media:
Yes. The Former president of Catalonia, Artur Mas, and the head of the political party CiU, has gone today on the first trial for the illegal pseudo-referendum in 2014. (+ some companions). These trials will last till the 10th.
The Party is also being investigated for corruption.
Yes. There’s a concentration of between 17k and 40k people to give a demonstration of unity in the separatist front. It has been organised by CiU (including paying for transportation for these people with public money, btw) in front of the Supreme Court of Catalonia, in BCN. Some say it’s to pressure the judges, others to show a sentiment.
Let’s assume that there really are 40k people with flags there right now. In a city of 1.6 million people and an autonomous community of 7.5 million people.
That means that on an extremely important date and having been provided all the means, less than 0.5% of the citizens of Catalonia care to drag their asses to there, even if it’s from two streets away from the site.
Yes, very telling, extremely telling, but not exactly in the way that they are intending, if you ask me. (and I live here so you can ask me iyw. I’ll answer.)
That also means that of the 22% of population that voted yes (to independence) in a pseudo-referendum to which only the 37% of the population bothered to show up, only a maximum of 40k are actually involved enough to actively show support for their cause and party.
The whole issue is really more complicated than this, involving cover-up propaganda and political power play, but those are the facts.
