a Selfie with 909Memphis (Part 1)

1. What does the 909 prefix in your name represent and who else shares it?

909, is the area code where Primo is from in Cali. So Primo decided to add that in his name when he first became an artist, and it kind of became something that means a lot to us.. Overall 909 is a collective between three of us, me being the last one to join. There’s Primo, Ronni, and then myself. All three of us rap, but in terms of other shit, I do the producing, and Ronni does the engineering for us when we need it. It’s crisp. There is also a bunch of other guys in the group who aren’t really into music for what I know, but I haven’t really gotten the chance to link up with them. 909 is going to be tatted on me somewhere when I make a living off of this, no doubt.

2. Who are your three favorite producers to work with right now and why?

My go to is always Og Abi. It’s crazy because I used to be an Og Abi fan boy when I did not even make music. I remember freshman year of college I would walk to class/practice playing that boys traktrain. I was going crazy over his sounds and I just knew there was something about him. So I hit him up, he took me under his wing when I wanted to learn how to produce, and one day he asked me if I ever thought about rapping and now we’re chasing a bag together.

I also really vibe with my canadian bro Yung Pvps. That man definitely has his own sound for sure. His enchanting melodies with the banging drums is something I just can’t ignore. When him and Abi collab I lose my shit, them boys really make some quality music.

Lastly, myself to be completely honest. When Abi or Pvps send me stuff and for some reason I can’t vibe with the beat, I make my own, rap on that, or send it to one of them to add some of their sauce to it so I can make a banger. I don’t know, I think all three of us have something music has never really seen before. We aren’t these regular producers.

3. Where do you see yourself in ten years and why?

To be honest I see myself rich as hell, wife and kids, making bangers everyday. I wanna be a legend. Certain I can do it with the right support. Soundcloud is not where I want to be for my whole music career, I believe I got something special.
