Ableism is a lot worse and more rampant than abled people realize. It saturates media, politics, society. The government's attempts to kill us off with poverty when we can't contribute to the workforce. The unique disability-related issues of the abortion ban. Even 'accessible' things are often inaccessible.
Even on an individual level, it's horrendous. People abandoned by friends and family for having a chronic illness. People harassed and attacked for using a wheelchair in public. The police brutality. The religious abuse. The abuse by caregivers and financial benefactors.
There is so little awareness of disability and disability problems in the abled sphere that they rarely even include us in their activism or politics unless it's to be actively hostile.
