My favourite thing about Jared is that he is self-proclaimed imperfect.

I love that he tries his best to always be a good person but that he also knows being a good person is a journey and it doesn’t always run smooth.

I love that he strives to continue learning from others and himself so that he can continue to grow and be better for himself and others.

And I love that he platforms his insecurities to help others.

In a world where everyone seems determined to appear perfect, it’s so refreshing to have someone go ‘I’m not perfect, but I’m trying.’

He’s great in every role but he stole my heart as Sam Winchester. No one else could have brought Sam to life like he did.

Whilst Jared obviously isn’t Sam, there are overlapping traits such as empathy, kindness, mental strength and intelligence. They are both inherently good people who are too often claimed to be otherwise due to lies & purposeful misinterpretations.

My message is pretty simple - Thank you.

Thank you for bringing my favourite character Sam Winchester to life. 

Thank you for your seemingly endless kindness and empathy.

Thank you for being a safe space.

Thank you for sharing so much of yourself with us.

Thank you for being a genuine queer ally.

Thank you for actively continuing to learn about others & the world, and championing others to do the same.

Thank you for ensuring the media you produce is inclusive both in front of and behind the camera.

Thank you for encouraging love, acceptance and conversation.

Thank you for being a good male role model.

Thank you for being open about the fact you’re human and fallible.

Thank you for using your platform for good and to raise awareness.

Thank you for showing that you can do all of the above and still encourage fun & silliness.
