Okay so we all know that we’ve seen Eddie’s parents, Abuela, Shannon, Chris, Buck, and Eddie all film recently. A lot of people are speculating an Eddie coma dream kind of like what Buck had in his “what if” episode.
Now to me it’s kind of weird that Eddie’s parents and Abuela would suddenly show up when he’s hurt this time. He’s been in the hospital multiple times during the show INCLUDING being in a medically induced coma after being shot by a SNIPER.
So what’s the reason they are all there this time? Maybe it’s not Eddie in the hospital bed.
Maybe it’s Christopher.
What if something happens to Chris? His grandparents would OF COURSE come running to LA to be by their son and grandson’s side. Of course Buck would be there. He loves that kid more than anything.
What if it’s Christopher’s “what if” dream? What if he dreams about if his mom had never died? If Shannon and Eddie stayed together?

Oliver filming scenes with Devin. I cannot fucking imagine what that is going to look like. Is Buck going to be the one that has a sit down conversation with Kim? Everything blows to hell for whatever reason, Eddie is dealing with multiple crises, and Buck just... talks to her? He's always had this thing of empathizing with Eddie's girlfriends, especially when Eddie is causing them distress ("I have been Ana") so it would make sense for him to find a quiet moment and sit and talk to Kim. Would also make sense in the sense that, like, Shannon/Buck have always been played as mirrors for each other, but we never got to see them interact. So it's not just, like, Eddie who gets this second chance at a forgotten past, it's Buck too (to some capacity). Something to the tune of "this wasn't a good thing he did, but he's a good man" or something that emulates a type of "passing the baton" conversation re: "It's my turn to take care of him/them." It would/could work too, especially if Kim has feelings for Eddie—feelings and hopes for a future that she now knows will not come to fruition...hold on I'm thinking I'm thinking
Okay I'm going to break this up into two parts: Part One (Bobby and Athena), Part Two (Buck and Eddie)
Part 1 (Bobby and Athena)
Bobby's had an axe hanging over his head all season. I was too caught up in the BuckTommy euphoria to notice it. But rewatching the cruise ship arc in light of the final episode titles being revealed—especially the scene where Bobby and Athena think they're about to die in 7x02 with the flashbacks to his (and Athena's) time in therapy—it's just like...
Season 1 beginning with Bobby's need to atone for the lives lost in the apartment fire.
Bobby's arc beginning (?) in Season 7, "Ghost of a Second Chance" and carrying through to the rest of the season, including Step Nine (which, in AA, is the step about making amends for harm done)
Bobby telling Frank he proposed to Athena after recently moving to Minnesota after suffering a "loss" (he doesn't expand on it; great job being honest with your therapist, Bob)
"Athena. I am so sorry." "You have nothing to apologize for." "You didn't want to come on this damn cruise. I made you. What the hell was I thinking to deserve a second chance like this?"
Athena saying she was worried she didn't know how to be with Bobby and who they were without the "noise" of their lives.
Athena saying she has "lots to say but not enough time" and we haven't circled back to that.
Bobby's big rescue in 7x03, how he was fully in Fireman Mode, which was awesome but it also showed how capable he is, how much he fucking loves and is good at this.
"I wish Buck could have seen you do that." "Honestly? I would've much rather seen Buck do that" > Bobby feeling the age of the job on his body but still enjoying it. Knowing he's getting older but not wanting to be pulled away from it involuntarily necessarily
Season 4 Redux, yes, but one of the core facets of Season 4 was Bobby and Athena's conversation surrounding retirement as the result of (Athena's) on the job injury...
Hen being the go-to interim Captain when Bobby is absent/out-of-commission for whatever reason + Bobby referring to her as "Captain."
All of Hen's big stories always seem to center around either her family or her career. She just recently fostered a little girl, which means that any advancements to her story are going to be with her career. If Bobby is out of commission, perhaps permanently, Hen is looking at a promotion.
Bobby saying the only difference between him and the drunk driver from the pileup in Season 4 is "one bad day."
So my theory, now that I've moved past the hysteria of Bobby potentially dying, is:
Bobby saves either the members of the 118 (his family) from a fire + severe peril OR he saves the man from his past (whose loved ones died in the apartment fire, and who was unwilling to forgive Bobby previously) → In doing so, he injures himself → Season 7 ends on a cliffhanger with the audience thinking Bobby is dead → Major Character Injury forces Bobby to retire → Season 8, Bobby and Athena really have to sit with who they are outside of the "noise" of their lives once that noise has been reduced and no longer has any hope of being turned back up → Hen becomes Captain → Tommy/Ravi/someone else fills her spot → Paramedic Buck? (He has no interest in leaving the 118, but twice in two seasons, the idea of Buck changning his position within the 118 has been floated. Seems like a career switch is on the horizon)

What are your theories about this? I’m all ears…
I mean, assuming they weren't just hanging out in that space and were actually filming there, here are my thoughts (and honestly, hospital or not, these are my thoughts anyway lol):
Theory A
Eddie has a brain tumor / brain injury → Eddie hallucinates Shannon (his "ghost of a second chance") telling him it's okay to heal and to let go of the bulk of his grief surrounding her and the future they could have had → Eddie's tumor leads to him passing out / slipping unconscious / ending up in a coma → his parents are called because their son is ill/dying → Helena and Ramon arrive with intention to make plans surrounding Christopher → Buck reveals that he is Christopher's guardian should Eddie die, and any plans regarding Christopher's health and well-being will be made by him → Helena intends to fight him on it (circling back to 4x14, where Eddie tells Buck that his parents would put up a fight, except Eddie and Ramon's relationship has changed by now and he takes Eddie's side on this) → Eddie wakes up and reaffirms that, yes, Buck is Christopher's guardian, no, his mother does not have a say about it → this leads into a Season 8 arc surrounding Eddie + his mom + his family issues + his feelings about Buck (tangentially, to be explored at the end of 8B/realized in 9A)
Theory B
Eddie has a brain tumor / brain injury → Eddie hallucinates Shannon (his "ghost of a second chance") telling him it's okay to heal and to let go → Eddie's tumor leads to him passing out / slipping unconscious → When he wakes up, he is forced to let Buck know the situation (calling back to 5x01 "You need to tell me if something's wrong") → Eddie's parents were already en route due to an unrelated event, so Eddie informs them of his health situation upon their arrival → Helena and Ramon make plans surrounding Christopher → Eddie reveals that Buck is Christopher's guardian should Eddie pass away, and any plans regarding Christopher's health and well-being will be made by Buck → Ramon isn't pleased, but Helena is the only one who intends to fight him on it → Eddie fights her on his decision (circling back to @yramesoruniverse's post earlier today about 9-1-1's Queers + their mothers) → Helena challenges the status of Buck and Eddie's relationship → this leads into a Season 8 arc surrounding Eddie + his mom + his family issues + his feelings about Buck (explicitly realized in 8A/acted on, to some capacity, at the end of 8B)
Theory C
Some unholy mixture of these two theories mixed with something completely out of left field, in the same way we knew Eddie was going to get shot but didn't know it was going to happen like that.
So do you think they are bringing in a Shannon lookalike as a love interest for Eddie?
Ummm. I... No? Not necessarily? I mean, assuming this isn't Eddie having a brain tumor and just straight up hallucinating his dead wife, I think it's possible he sees this woman and sees something of Shannon in her (for obvious reason). But that's all I've got.

What if it isn’t Eddie but Christopher who is sick/hurt …
I mean. Gavin was in a wheelchair. I don't know if that's his or not but I've never seen him with one...(I don't follow him on socials though, so I don't know)
the words "Eddie" and "brain tumor" in the same sentence literally make me want to have a panic attack but bro..................... 👀 it would be kinda sexy ngl.................. 👀👀👀
Idk I feel like that would be a very regressive storyline for Eddie and I don’t know how that would help anything move forward I think maybe a “what if” type thing would make more sense. Maybe not a whole episode like the one with buck but like little dream sequences or a single one
No, I think it could work in the sense that, like... Eddie meets this woman. She reminds him of Shannon. He finds reasons to see/be around her (not in a stalker way, just, like. They go to the same coffee shop or something and see each other frequently). Looking at and speaking to her is like a blast of what he could have had if things had been different between him/Shannon. She, of course, doesn't know any of this. To her, he's just some guy. But anyway, at some point (ep.9 or 10) she asks him out on a date (because hello, obviously. It's Eddie and he's beautiful) and he says no and comes clean and is like "I'm flattered but I have to be honest..." and he explains — not even about Marisol necessarily — but about his feelings and why he was "pursuing" her (or what could be interpreted that way, from her perspective). And it's like... It's one of those things that could go REALLY badly, especially since this woman has been reading this situation all wrong, but she's like okay (because she has Shannon's easy demeanor, of course she does) and is just like "so say to me what you would say to her." And Eddie does and it's part of his healing process to be able to "talk" to Shannon without actually talking to her. You know? IDK but that's just how I would do it.
