Settling In
It had been a month since he had posted a Job Wanted ad; two months since Anna had filed for divorce, and two hours since he’d arrived in Midgar, to meet his new employer, the young and rising Director of SOLDIER, Lazard Deusericus. He’d stopped to grab a cup of coffee first, downing it quickly in hopes of settling his nerves before approaching the towering ShinRa building.
Being honest, he wasn’t exactly overly thrilled about working for ShinRa; as a student of history, he knew that power hungry individuals who had an army for protection against...nothing really, was never a good thing. However, Midgar University hadn’t contacted him, and the Cosmo research station had said they could use him in a few months but not right away. So ShinRa it was.
After stopping at the front desk and getting a visitor’s pass, I.D badge, and a map, he stepped onto the elevator and headed up to the 51st floor. From there, a short walk to the office that had been indicated on the phone interview, where he paused to straighten his suit and tie, simply dressed in a  brown suit coat and dark brown corduroy pants, paired with chocolate oxfords and a emerald green tie that matched absolutely nothing. He shifted his attache case before pressing the buzzer on the office door and waiting.
Everything was sterile, lacking the personality and warmth he’d be accustomed to at the ancient stone university in Junon, built out of the city and overlooking the sea, but a job was a job no matter where it was or how boring and bright the hallways were.
