Timeline of 🤔 Events Surrounding Will, Voter, BC Line, and Shoulder Check
7/6/2026- Will posts the group photo of the boys from 4th of July on Cape Cod. On the post, Will Vote adds a comment about how they'll be be back next year, $100 million richer. At the time, we assume this means Will is planning to sign for 8 years at $12.5 AAV and Voter has just blabbed his contract.
@fabasten just proposed in this post today, though, that the $100 million was not referring to Will's contract but to Mack's upcoming massive $94 million extension which had not been made public yet. This would be inappropriate for Voter to comment on so many levels, but for one implying that Mack's money is Will's money is heavily implying they are together (what's yours is mine), therefore essentially outing them, and also diminishing his value to Will to dollar signs. Besides that, how massively inappropriate for him to think he has the right to out contract information that was no doubt shared to him in confidence. If he was in fact speaking about Mack, it's understandable Will would be extremely upset by this.
So the conclusion here is that this may be the reason Voter has been MIA lately- and a good conclusion at that. I think it could relate to some other larger topics we've been discussing, though, so walk with me here for a second.
7/14/2026- For one, Will Vote has been entirely missing. I think. This picture of Will posing with some fans at BC as he trained was shared here 7/14. (Correction: Previously stated it was BU.)
@urmamaslova had an eagle eye in this post in noting that the sticks off to the side say VOTE. He was not photographed in person. But if we assume he was there, this is the only thing close to a sighting I could track down since the 4th of July pictures.
7/23/2026- In a now deleted post, Shoulder Check Showcase posts this on their Instagram, causing fans to assume Will and Leno are on the same team.
7/24/2026- Will posts his summer dump. Mack and Matty are featured among others, but Voter, Gabe, and Leno are not. Gabe and Leno do not like the post, which is out of the norm. Edit: Erroneously stated Voter did not like post. He did.
7/25/2026- Leno posts his summer dump. There is debate on who Will is talking to here- Leno or Voter - but the focus is clearly him. Will likes it but does not comment. If it is Leno, he would have needed to have changed from the porch photo that is posted because they appear to be same day. The pics featuring Will are on slides 2 and 6, both of Will's numbers. (Update: Information in this ask provides more information and that it was Voter in the picture. Leaving my comments for context of speculation circulating.)
7/29/2026- Official (revised?) roster is posted showing Will and Leno (along with Gabe and Cutter) on different teams. Will and Matty allegedly call at 10 PM this night and drop out without giving cause.
7/30/2026- Shoulder Check Showcase takes place without Will and Matty. Leno switches to other team to fill vacancy.
So what am I getting at here? I think it's a possibility Will got pretty upset over the Voter contract and it spurred at minimum some "choosing Mack over us" feelings among Gabe and Leno. I could see them trying to defend Voter if there was a fight, reminding Will he's his oldest friend and then getting surprised at just the intensity at which Will sided with protecting Mack vs letting it side. And then the summer dump with Mack excluding them being an insult to injury.
Leno's post could be seen a couple different ways. If it's Will and Leno in the photo: possessive. Staking his claim as still being important in Will's life. If it's Voter: a reminder to Will of where he came from, of who has been there for him since the start. We thought it was odd and centered on Will when jt was posted. Maybe that was on purpose. Maybe he doesn't even realize why he chose that photo.
This is all speculation and RPF, of course, but it would help explain some of the Shoulder Check Showcase stuff. If he's at odds with several people there, why would he attend? There's also the option that in this shift we are seeing publicly, some in his life have voiced concerns or disapproval. Or that he told them something important and didn't get the reaction he wanted.
At minimum, go give this post some love for that contract theory because I think it's spot on, holy shit.
