#7 lakes

This is the continuation of our SOCCSKSARGEN trip and this time around we spent the 4th day at Lake Sebu in South Cotabato.  Lake Sebu is the name of a town named after a lake of the same name. It is famous for it’s 7 falls and zipline, and of course the lotus and lilies. It is described as the bowl of mountains, lakes and landscape.

Locally, it is known as the ‘Summer Capital of Southern Mindanao aptly due to the chilly weather and uphill ascent to this town. You don’t need an air condition room just to feel the coolness of the environment. It serves as a home to the T’boli, a tribe in the province of South Cotabato famous for its colorful beadworks and intricate weaved clothings.

After driving to San Martin de Los Andes via the 7 Lakes, we took another route back to Bariloche via the Lanín National Park. I actually thought this was slightly more spectacular than the 7 Lakes, but it may well just be because I didn’t have any previous expectations of the area. I’d read a bit about the 7 lakes, so I knew what I was in for. But the National Park took me entirely by surprise!

Dreaming of 7 Lakes

The scenery is pretty spectacular in the Bariloche area, and one of the best ways to see even more of the landscape is to rent a car and take a drive around. There is a famous route called the 7 Lakes, which takes you all the way up to San Martin via, you guessed it, 7 lakes. It then takes you back down to Bariloche via a national park with natural stone cathedrals. So it is pretty much ticking…
