the bathroom tile is cold against your half-dressed skin, but you’ve been sat here for so long that you’ve stopped noticing. that, and you’re barely inside your body enough at all to feel it. it’s hard to tell just how long it’s been, tears that initially wouldn’t stop have dried, and all you feel now is empty. numbness is better than hysteria.. and it’s its own sort of catharsis ; a double meaning in that word. purgative. any semblance of relief leaves your body though as you’re snapped out of it by the sudden movement of the bathroom door opening. you hadn’t even heard the knocking, or his voice, if they’d been there at all.. but joe isn’t the type to just barge in. he respects your privacy ... in the past, almost to a fault, but he’s paying a bit too much attention now. worrying about you. you look up at him, and you’re not really sure what to say, so you’ll wait for him to start.
was he waiting on you ? you don’t even remember now.
