Weekly Update 26.4.2026
Another slow week. I'm okay with that though after some of the more recent weeks being really disheartening. I feel some of my familiar relationships being quite strained recently as well so having some time to just be has been better in some ways. That being said let's get to chatting about my little week.
Last week I only got around to reading the one book. I read The Midnight Library by Matt Haig. This one had been sitting on my TBR for quite some time. I'd initially put it on there due to the surrounding hype. I did really enjoy the book and I liked how each of the chapters brought us through not only a different regret each time but went through the eliminations of lives that the main character imagined to be better that the life she is initially trying to escape. I liked how the narrative slowly guided the reader and the main character through the realization that the future is only going to be as good as the decisions you make in the present. Not only was this a good moral for the story, but it felt very pertinent to my own life. While it wasn't concealed in literary devices to get its point across I think the delivery was still somewhat poetic and enchanting.
I nearly finished two little projects this week! First off I did finish that simple scarf project for my friend L when I visit in May! I'll attach a photo below for viewing pleasure haha. It was a simple project, but if anything it was a nice exercise in consistency. The other thing I got about 80% done was a fun patchwork sundress that I worked on with my mum. I got to pick out my fabrics and pattern; together over the weekend we got it all cut and assembled. It did get a bit late before we could add straps and hem it so it does still need a bit of work. Otherwise though it is gorgeous and I'm incredibly excited to wear it soon! When it is completed I will take photos of it as well to share. I'm still not very confident in my sewing skills. It's been nice doing it with someone a little more confident and experienced. It has also helped make things less complicated than I've made them out to be in my head. I hope we get to work on some more projects together I think it will be loads of fun!
This week I saved a few open calls for art. I haven't made the time to comb over the fine details of it all to determine if my art would be a good fit for any of these. However I think if I submit my pieces to at least one I think it would be good just to keep putting myself out there. I've also been thinking of adding my experiences to my resume just to make myself standout. As things stand right now I will have been published once and exhibited solo once by the end of the year. I think too it would be beneficial in regard to my desire to go into galleries/museums in the future as I will have has exhibiting/publication experience on the artist's side. I want to consult J and do a little research of my own regarding the topic.
This is really all I've got for the week. Again not a big one for me. I do think I need to focus on unwinding and not getting too down on myself. I feel my emotions fluctuating a lot lately and it's not been helping my motivation to stick with anything or develop myself. I have got people in my life who are calming and grounding like R, J, and G but the more I can self regulate the better. I'll admit though I've never felt like I've had such a good support system as I do now. I will be forever grateful for what they've all done to add to my life.
All my love,
I
