#6649 Odd Breed RBC3 #4: Mezcal Bugs (USA) Odd Breed’s Rare Bottle Club is their annual+ club that gets you the most fire bottles, and this bad boy is from the third edition of the club. This is their strong golden wild ale, Artistic Bugs, aged in French oak puncheons for 6 months and then transferred to Anejo Mezcal barrels for another 6 months, before adding organic blue agave nectar to boost the ABV. Coming in at a lofty 12%, it pours an opaque burnt orange with a foamy head and a smoky nose, it’s crisp and clean, there’s Citra and Czech Saaz hops in here, the booze is well-hidden, there’s notes of honeydew melon, caramelized pineapple, sharply carbed, sweet and balanced, chewy with a balanced, dry finish.
