Barnes flinches away. “Don’t,” he says and looks at Tony with the most peculiar expression, which lasts a good ten seconds before Barnes—who is still, and Tony cannot stress this enough, bleeding out—finally speaks again. “So, about ‘em holsters?” Tony inhales deeply through his nose. Right. Right. Prioritizing tactical storage solutions over possibly not gaping, but a hole in his abdomen is— The man just wants more pockets.

Canon-compliant(ish) 616 comicverse for @marveltrumpshate 2024. Tony runs SHIELD. Bucky has the shield. It’s fine. Everything’s fine.

The team is out fighting the big bad of the week, a magician of sorts, and they threaten to blast everyone with a terribly bad spell. Before they knew what was happening, Tony got hit, a second blast was headed right for Steve, but Bucky pushed his friend out of the way and took the brunt of it himself.

Before anyone else could get hit, the magician was captured.

Tony and Bucky both felt fine, and they interrogated the magician on what exactly that spell was supposed to do. The magician only laughed.

"It was a love spell, whoever is hit with the magic will fall desperately in love with anyone else who also has been hit with the magic."

The room froze. That can't be right. Tony and Bucky were just getting to good terms, this can't happen.

"In all honesty, the blast was meant for your good captain. I figure, if both your leaders are out for the count because they can't keep their hands off each other, then it'd be easier to take you all down. But oh well" the magician singsonged.

And so, Tony and Bucky inevitable succumed to the pull of the magic. They faught it... they did. But it was just too strong U.U

Bruce analyzed everything he could to try and help figure a way to reverse the spell. They interrogated the magician to no avail.

Two weeks later, with Bucky and Tony pretending to hate that the spell made them have feelings for each other; hated the pull it made them feel toward each other, they cracked the magic.

It was a sham.

The magician is just a con artist who can do petty magic and there wasn't actually any love spell at all.

So, apparently Tony and Bucky wear similar pants to sleep in....

(Same taste in clothes? Same store? Or are they Tony's pants and Bucky stole them? You decide...)
