Took the #flaanimal to the Colorado Koppenberg circuit race last weekend. The question was simply: “Can our steel bike hang in a skinny tire race?” The answer is “Definitely.” We’re not saying Flaanimal will make you more efficient and we wouldn’t take it to a hill climb TT. But with light wheels and the right tires the bike felt at home towards the front of the peloton all day long. We’re dedicated to riding our bikes where they don’t “belong” because we want to discover what the practical limits are for our creations. Even if it’s a bad idea we’re probably game to try it at least once. To date Traildonkey has won or podiumed in Road, Cyclocross, Gravel, and MTB. Flaanimal has won in CX and we’ll be on the hunt for some good results on dirt and trail. We’re a Lab, and experimenting is our jam. Rodeo isn’t a brand built around pure speed, but going fast from time to time is very fun. Tech note: gearing for this race was 40t up front with 10-42 in back. Cadence was fine except the bunch sprint would have been hard to try to win on that ratio. A 42 up front would have worked nicely for sprinting.
