For #FenderFriday this week I want to take it back to @brentcoleman176's superb collection and his tweed #Fender #5F10 #Harvard. . If you have followed me for a while you probably know that this is my dream #amp, and the one I have been pining after for at least the last 4 years. Why? Maybe it's the relative rarity of the Harvard. There aren't that many around because they were kind of weirdly positioned from a marketing perspective, in between the less expensive student #amps (the #Champ and #Princeton) and the higher-end #FenderDeluxe model. If you were a beginner you'd probably buy one of the less expensive amps. If you had a bit more dosh, or were a more serious player, you'd be more inclined to go for the #Deluxe (or perhaps the Harvard's fancier sibling, the 5F11 #Vibrolux, which was basically the same amp, but with an added tremolo circuit). As a result of this muddled positioning, the Harvard did not sell very well and it was discontinued in 1963. . But for me this is the perfect amp: it's relatively low powered at 10 watts, but unlike the 5 watt Champ it comes in a decent sized cabinet with a 10 inch speaker, so it will sound larger even at lower volumes, (which is very important to me!). The #5F2 Princeton has the same size box but only an 8" speaker, so it doesn't sound as big as the Harvard. The Harvard is perfect! 😄 . I love this amp and I swear I will have one of these beauties some day... 😉 . . #guitar #guitars #fenderharvard #amplifiers #vintageguitars #vintageamps #fenderamp #vintagefender #tone #guitargear #guitarsdaily #guitarsofinstagram #geartalk #guitarsdaily #fendersofinstagram #guitarphotography #ampphotography https://www.instagram.com/p/B7bH7CphhsV/?igshid=1n5vva3xu77af
