Okay listen to me please if you think a medical practitioner that acts like your friend and speaks to you without using their laptop is a better practitioner than one that doesn't. This complaint bothers me a lot bc it encourages good practitioners to behave in a way that actively makes them suck at their jobs.
If you only go to them for things like a cold or flu or headache, yeah that's probably fine. But if you go for an ongoing problem, that is a red flag.
Every single practitioner I've had that talks to me the whole time and barely uses their laptop has given me horrible ongoing care. Why? Those 'cold doctors typing away on their keyboards' are taking notes so they can analyze your problem and come back to it later when needed. The more detailed the notes, the better they can care for you--which means more 'coldly typing on their keyboard'.
Your practitioner sees a shitton of patients. They do not remember very well what you've said in the past. They need good quality notes for that.
If your practitioner types a lot, that's 1. a sign they actually give a shit about helping you and 2. allows for accountability on their part and 3. is vital for record-keeping. If they don't, that's a sign they probably don't care that much about your ongoing care, their own accountability, or the quality of your records.
Every fucking time I see one of these 'friendly and looks you in the eyes the whole time' people, they don't remember jack shit I said and they have nothing to go off of but a few faulty memories. I have to explain everything over and over again as they try to work off their inaccurate memories and sometimes even argue with me based off them.
There's this culture--in some places more than others--of presuming warmth and personability is what reveals the true quality of the services you receive. It's not. And you hurt yourself and very competent people by allowing your thin skin to override your brain. Stop demanding unnecessary emotional labor.
My best practitioner is one that has never smiled at me. Yet she does everything she can to help me. She's amazing.
“Is there anyone you’re interested in?”
“There is.”
“Who?”
“The Lord.”

I'm not above being an openly aggressive bitch about this. It's pointless and I've been dealing with this for months.
Honestly calling a war criminal who has murdered countless children buying a trafficked child on the black market an ‘adoption’. is an incredibly anti adoption thing to do.
It is so offensive to say that adopting a child is the same as kidnapping one because you are bored. It does a real disservice to all the amazing adoptive parents out there. And I can’t imagine it is much nicer for adoptees to hear.
There are some examples (both good and bad) of adoption this show, but Regina and Henry are not one of them. The fact that Regina used a fake adoption to cover up her kidnapping of Henry does not make her an adoptive mother, no more than a thief who sets up a fake charity to defraud people is a philanthropist.

I am infuriated that "doctor shopping" is seen as something patients only ever do for nefarious purposes. In what fucking world is it that patients are ALWAYS treated well, understood, and given adequate care on only their first or second practitioner. In what fucking world do patients only "doctor shop" because they are malingerers or want to get high.
In rare or ill-understood conditions, it can take many different practitioners before you find one that takes you seriously and knows what to do with you.
There shouldn't be a stigma around this.
I hate e-begging but it seems like I'm having to do it nonstop lately. The only question is which thing to ask for help with first. I know that the more a person e-begs, the more they'll be ignored. Bc it feels like throwing money into a bottomless pit. But that's what life is. A bottomless pit you throw money into. I'm so sick of this.
