eyebrows pinch together morosely, a look of genuine guilt flashing across his features despite the playfulness of her tone. he’s trying, he’s really trying to be more competent at this whole being independent and useful to others thing, but it’s hard when at every corner he’s confronted by something he doesn’t know how to do or slips and messes something up! it’s astounding, really, how foolish he finds himself to be these days after being ignorantly confident in all he did for so long.
and it isn’t fair to tiana, who is already so kindly helping him along while juggling all else she has to do, to have to help him every time he messes up.
“i am sorry,” he beseeches, hands out before him, “i tried handling it on my own, but it seems i have only…made it worse.”
