Writing
So, one of my big hobbies and one of my favorite things to do in my free time is writing - not necessarily journalism, but writing nonfiction about a subject. Usually, my writing has to do with my opinion on a subject, and usually, my opinions would be very controversial, especially on a website like Tumblr. I've been letting my work stockpile in folders in Google docs, on my computer, and on my phone - and I feel like I need to put it out there. I've always wanted to make my stupid blog something interesting, something that at least somebody will enjoy, rather than being another faux-photography 'blog'. Eventually, I'll post something on Tumblr, but before that Id like to know if there is ANY interest in that kind of thing at all. Thanks.
The REAL Future Of My Blog
Hey guys, remember that time I wrote a 500 word post about how my blog was going to change, and I completely contradicted that in the following months? My blog became, like it was before, a shitty mess of posts reblogged from aviation and pseudo-luxury blogs, and I think that needs to change. Journalism has always been something that interests me, and I want to pursue that interest with 4th-amendment. For now, I'm going to refrain from posting anything, but my ask box is always open.
So, police can now search your home if they arrest you first.
Thanks, Supreme Court! I'm trying to write more about things I find important, and this is definitely one.
Here's the deal: it used to be, that if you expressly denied entrance to your home for a search, police had to obtain a warrant, which presumbly put up a barrier to illegal searches. Police have previously found ways around this, such as locating sympathetic judges, etc. to sign off on warrants quickly.
However, the Court's ruling recently kind of blows my mind. Now, if there are two occupants in a place that police want to search, and they disagree on whether to allow police to search the place, police can arrest the dissenter and they will then be considered "absent", allowing the search to proceed.
I'm not normally a paranoid one, but how is that not some Kafka-esque police-state shit going on there? "Oh, you dissent but your friend doesn't, so we'll just arrest you. Problem solved!" Definitely not erring on the side of protecting citizens there.
