7H finally stopped her mindless chatter the moment she felt the slightest weight nudge against her shoulder. It had been beyond the time they agreed on sleeping, and though their pods urged them to recuperate from their close call of a mission, the pair couldn’t help but indulge in the archives of plentiful information. They had made a little bit of a mess with the old books they found, but what was the harm in learning a little more about human culture? There were pages on Earth’s geography, animal life, witchcraft, fairy tales, and everything they could possibly think of. It was truly a gold mine! What other opportunities like this would they get?

“4S..” The healer murmured, realizing just how slumped over he was– he must’ve been out cold. She didn’t dare to just leave him like that though, and with a delicate maneuver 7H managed to keep him from tumbling back or forward for the time being. Shoot, moving someone was harder than she thought.

She contemplated just how to get him back to bed. Carrying him was out of the question, considering her size. With a determined huff, 7H held the scanner between her arms in a careful embrace as she slowly inched her back against the wall, at least giving herself some support in case she drifted off in the same way. When she was back in a somewhat comfortable sitting position, the healer guided the sleeping android back down on the edge of her lap, making sure the fluffed up ruffles of her dress were a good enough pillow for the evening. She still had her curiosities after all, this book on magic was just way too interesting to put down..

“I wonder what you’ll think about all this when you wake up..” 7H talked quietly to herself as she resumed her ‘research’. Even though it was most likely a work of fiction, she was gravitating toward these sorts of subjects much more than she should’ve.

“….” It was hard not to talk. She didn’t want to bother him of course, but..the silence was weird. Weirder than normal. She didn’t want to sleep..

“Yeah cause I’m old and refurbished.” Twelve commented with a chuckle, clearly not intimidated by the Scanner model, keeping his blindfold off even though Nine often lectured him for it.

Relief washed over the Healer android upon being greeted by the Scanner. With the destruction of the bunker and the rapid depletion of YoRHA units, he was all she had to return to. She dreaded the day that she’d arrive back to an empty corridor, but refused to acknowledge the possibility of that ever happening. True to her duties, she never relinquished the responsibility of keeping both their bodies out of harm. There was only so much she could provide, though. Physical combat was another story..and they had avoided that for the most part.

“4S..” 7H had never heard the scanner use that tone of voice around her–was he angry? She had attracted quite a bit of unwanted attention when she went back for the satchel she dropped outside the amusement park. 7H knew it was reckless, but she couldn’t leave it behind. It had all the floral specimens she collected, her supplies for repairs, and a couple books she snuck away from the Forest Castle. It contained a lot of memories here and there, mostly from their time stationed on Earth.

It wasn’t either of their faults that a few machines caught wind of their location during their travel, but she was the one to run back and grab her things. Without him there she’d probably be injured, but it was a split decision she couldn’t really take back. It was an extraordinarily close call.

“I…just didn’t want to lose everything we worked hard on gathering. I know I shouldn’t have gone back, but..” The healer nervously played with her fingers, looking down at her boots. “Ah..I’m sorry..I know I can’t defend myself. I really owe you for having my back, 4S..I’ll be sure not to pull something like this again.” 7H sighed, now feeling secure within the ‘friendly’ amusement park gates.

[ The only AU I had is with 4S– so I’ll add a general headcanon! You’re free to deny or accept since you are him! ]

-7H’s flower clips are for aesthetic reasons only, but they do fall out/need to be fixed sometimes. I imagine she kind of pleads for him to help her remove or put them back on if they fall out since her hair is so long. She always feels bad T v T

To celebrate..... He figuratively short circuits, and looks at the flower offered to him. Loved ones? Was it not-- Lovers, or. He looks at the scanner again. For a moment he wishes the battle visor was not blocking his view, so that he could read him based on expression. Was it a joke? Was he making fun of him?

No.... It did not seem so. 

He gently accepts the flower in his mismatched hands, holding it on his palm. 

“I did not know about the date. I do not have any gifts for you, 4S.” he murmurs, the white flower almost seeming to glow from within in the dim light of their little hide out. “My wish is that one day... the both of us might be able to enjoy life in a quiet place at the ocean.”
