Don’t imagine for a moment there isn’t method to Trump’s madness regarding his secretary picks. The people he’s picking, no one else on Earth would pick--and that’s the point. They know that the second he gets impeached or fails reelection their asses are getting kicked to the curb--and that makes supporting him their only option if they wish to retain the power he’s giving them.
Like any good dictator, the only thing he cares about is his people’s loyalty. Competence isn’t even a secondary concern--competent administrators are a threat to the dictators that appoint them, after all.
We think that Trump knows nothing, but there’s one thing he’s proven he very much does understand--power. How to get it, and how to keep it. Do not underestimate the threat we face.
