And then there was Vergil. Acting like the stuck-up asshole he was. And really. Dante could have let him go. Could just let him walk right out that door again. It was what his brother deserved. To be alone. He shouldn’t have been allowed the satisfaction of knowing another’s company.
But that was what started this whole mess between them, wasn’t it?
A hand reached out, snagging his brother’s wrist, but there was something else in Dante’s eyes. Something fierce. A fire burning in him. All the hatred. All the sorrow. All the guilt and pain. He was tired of it. He was tired of this. Of them.
“I can’t let you do that to me again, Vergil.”
It had simply been out of courtesy that he came to tell Dante that he was going to leave the other. They had their ‘fun’ as brothers but this routine, this normalcy, it just wasn’t for him when could do so much more. Not that Dante would understand as the man was more then happy to continue this farce. Vergil had expected only minimal protest just words of spite to cover any hurt.
What he did not expect was for his younger twin to suddenly grab his wrist and hold so tightly. Looking into the others eyes he frowned able to see the pain, anger and sorrow being inflicted all over again. His own hand clenches into a fist as he looked at his brother almost questioning. Why not just let him go? Why does Dante want to fight to keep him here?
“What makes you think you can stop me from leaving?” He questioned, eyes narrowed slightly as he stared at his brother. Staring the other down though wondering if Dante was going to fight him to stay. Like that ever did any good before hand.
