400 Blows is one of those bands that nobody knows about; even I don’t know anything about them and I dig their records. I heard a song of theirs, “Movin’,” on an airplane going to London in 1985 and spent the next 20 years looking for it, even though I couldn’t recall what it sounded like, only that I’d loved it. Turned out it was uptight British white funk with very 80s production—and it was AWESOME. Now on the rare occasion that I stumble across a record of theirs, I just grab it and discover what I’ve bought when I get home. I found another, the flamboyant “Let The Music Play,” in Frankfurt a few years ago, and now today, I unearthed this at High Fidelity in Amityville, on its first day open in its new location. A fantastic store just got fantastic-er; go visit ‘em.

These meetings are always the best. Really great films play here too. And the food is excellent. Also beer. And you can just hangout in the beautiful space. Buy some artsy film books too.
