the sun was setting and the sky was orange, pink, red, blue mixed altogether in a cotton candy swirl. he was only supposed to walk me partway, but we ended up getting caught up in conversation. by the time we departed, i felt a huge anchor weighing me down. on impulse, i turned around. he continued forward and i held back, hoping, deep down, he would turn back as well. he didn’t. so i just went on my way. has there ever been someone you fell in love with because of all the small stories they share? because of the baggage they carry? because of the love they couldn’t express and you wanted to express for them? because i have. and every day since then, i want to forget. because how can one love the other when they do not want to be loved? it is like asking where to hug a person hurting everywhere. the answer is, you just don’t.
