Monster Pipeline Punch 500ml - 32mg / 100ml Can manufactured by Ardagh

I think the Monster Punch range is the range of drinks containing fruit juice but there’s also the Monster Juiced range so I’m not sure what the difference is between them. The designs for these are along similar lines to the Monster Ultra cans but with a different feel.

Ths one is a very lightly textured can with a delicate flour and fern design in various shades of pink around the edges echoing it’s Hawaiian inspiration. The “Punch” logo on the front is very bold, as you would expect, and the same on every Monster Punch can, just in different colours.

One small detail that would have been quite easy to miss is that the ‘+’ between Punch and Energy at the very bottom of the can is customised for each design. In this case it’s in the palm of the Shaka Sign again calling back to the Hawaiian Surf inspiration of this drink.

Tenzing Natural Energy Drink Can 250ml - 32mg / 100ml Can manufactured by Ardagh

This is another one of the “natural” drinks that I feel talk themselves up to a large degree. Having said that it’s also one of the soft-feels cans that I quite like, and found myself stroking while writing this review. I’ll put all the bumpf that they say on the can in a quote below. When it comes to the design I really like this one. The layered mountains give a nice idea of perspective while still being simple and geometric and I love that the design continues all the way around the can, not being interrupted to give space for all the information on the back. The relatively simple colour palette just gives it a nice, fresh feel and it’s a pleasing can to look and and to read.

Coca-Cola Energy v2 (with Competition) 250ml - 32mg / 100ml Can manufactured by Crown

This has had a redesign similar to Coke Energy No Sugar with the new can having an improved contrast between the wave design and the background colour giving the can a more striking look. This is also complimented by the change to a completely red top to the can which is a change that I absolutely love and would live to see more of in the UK market like many manufacturers have already done in the USA.

This one is also interestingly a UK-only version of the can where all the others have been international cans shared with Norway and Iceland. I think the only reason for this is the presence of the Spotify competition and as soon as that’s over I fully expect the cans to return to their previous shared design, which is a shame because I like the single-country can, it feels much less busy.

Relentless Mango 500ml - 32mg / 100ml Can manufactured by Ball

This is the first Relentless can I’ve added to the online catalogue but I do have a sentimental attachment to Relentless Origin as it got me through lots of University. The can is a delightful mix of complex and simple with the raven design being almost banknote design detail complimented by the relatively simple background radiant spiral. I like this design and it’s a sensible choice of colour for mango.

Red Bull Red Edition Watermelon 250ml - 32mg / 100ml Can manufactured by Ball

I’m starting to run out of things to say about these cans as they really are identical to each other apart from the colour. There are two differenced between this cans and the other Red Bull Editions cans. One being that this is a price marked pack from the local convenience store and the other is that I’m almost certain that this can is slightly textured compared to the others. It certainly feels less reflective but I’m not comparing them side-by-side so I may be wrong.

Euro Shopper Original Sugar Free Drink 250ml - 32mg / 100ml Can manufactured by Canpack

No, you didn’t read that title incorrectly, this is just labelled as ‘drink’ not ‘energy drink’. Interestingly, the front of the can does have 6 blue rectangles that could conceivably be the letters of the word ‘energy’ but that’s a long stretch. I think this can isn’t far off the very definition of utilitarian, telling you who made it and what’s inside and nothing more. I do appreciate that they’ve at least put some sort of design into the layout of the text rather than just sticking it on there, but I don’t think you could call this one beautiful. I have no idea why the euro shopper logo is off-center but they must have a reason, or maybe it slipped and no-one noticed.

Coca-Cola Energy 250ml - 32mg / 100ml Can manufactured by Ardagh

This can design is pretty much the same as the zero sugar equivalent but with a dark red background to the back of the can rather than black. It’s pretty simple and works as intended, giving extra energy to the usual coke red branding but it doesn’t inspire anything in me. The fact that they’ve used one can design for three territories just makes the back of the can look a mess as they squeeze in the multiple languages everywhere.

Rockstar Original 250ml 250ml - 32mg / 100ml Can manufactured by Ball

This can has a really, really basic design but I really, really like it. It’s just the name and the logo but I like the simplicity of that. Rockstar is usually sold in 500ml cans so this must have been purchased in a pub (probably at an extortionate price) but I can’t remember.
