Day 7: Least Favorite Character

Amar Varma
Setting the iconic train sequence to one side, I really disliked this guy. Rahul Mehra is a creepy stalker, but he's a sympathetic character; this guy had no redeeming qualities at all. Chasing that poor girl all over creation when she clearly wants nothing to do with him. I was so disgusted I actually quit watching this movie in the middle and didn't finish it until months later.
I later learned Dil Se can be interpreted as an allegory, with Amar as the villain. Watching it with this in mind I liked it much better, tho' I doubt I'll watch it again. He's still my least favorite character.

Day 16: Favorite Dramatic Scene
The scene in Fan when Aryan Khanna takes the stage as Gaurav playing Aryan - playing his stalker playing himself. It's mesmerizing, unsettling, astonishing, creepy and brilliant.
Every time I watch it the hairs stand up on the back of my neck. It's that good.
This movie is one of SRK's best, and I'll die on that hill.
It also has one of my favorite lines:
"Nasty."
