EXTRAS

-          I’d like it if the four are biological siblings, but I’m not particularly set on this aspect. They can just…evolve into a family unit due to their circumstances.

-          I’m thinking the actual plot will start a while into their reign, where they’re older and relatively settled.

-          Their age ranges in the “present” should vary between early thirties/late twenties for the older two, and early to mid-twenties for the younger. The age difference between the oldest and youngest should be five, or less, years.

-          This is not a happy, fluffy plot. While I’m open to having light-hearted threads and whatnot, I’d much prefer it if the focus was on the toxic bits of their relationship: their co-dependency, their instability etc. I see them as characters who are morally questionable, and actively seen as villains by many outsiders. I kinda want to build up the idea that they’re surrounded by enemies, which would enhance their sense of isolation and their dependence on each other.

-          Muse D is crossed out because I’d be taking over her. My preferred FC is Imogen Poots/Eliza Taylor but I am flexible. If you want me to share some ideas about the FCs for the other three, hit me up and I’ll make a list of suggestions.

-          I see their world as a cross between various mythologies and horror/ghost stories. I’d rather discuss worldbuilding with my partners and decide on everything together, but some ideas to start off with could be:

             o   There’s a necromancer living in a swamp that stretches on for miles and it’s teeming with bodies;

             o   Something that’s known as the Drowning Lake;

             o   An abandoned castle, deep in the mainland, that used to be the home of the country’s former kings and queens sealed itself off and no one has been able to enter it since the last queen was killed by a witch;

             o   The country was cursed for centuries after the queen’s death, and its borders were magically closed off as a plague ravaged the people, to the point where the land and water sources grew poisoned by the rotting bodies;

            o   The four characters came from the “real world”, fallen in through some portal, when they were children – they were tasked to finding the cure for the plague which they did, effectively breaking the curse and starting the long, difficult journey to stabilization;

           o   The first few years of their reign were rife with wars, their neighbours, afraid of their sudden reappearance into the world attacking them preventively. They lost nearly every battle they fought, but the deeper the enemy armies marched into the territory, the more the earth itself turned against them, and despite their weak beginnings they won every war;

           o   Tired of waiting around to be attacked by others, Muse A begins an expansionist war and brings the fighting to his enemies, crushing them before they can rise up again;

           o   The rest of the countries are mainly filled with humans – historically, their inquisitorial forces exterminated magical creatures native to their lands (with varying degrees of success);

          o   The muses’ home country is considered a magical haven, and its human population is quite low, most of them are outcasts and exiles from other places;

        o   The army is incredibly powerful thanks to the many magical beings they have under their command;

        o   Technologically, most of the world is still in the Middle Ages.

 PLOT BUNNIES

-          The country practices the death penalty, which Muse D is opposed to. Muse A typically plays the executioner, but one time he’s away from the castle and since only Muse B and D, are left behind, he delegates the deed to D who, in a fit of rebelliousness, commutes the sentence to trial by combat and appoints herself as the prosecution’s champion and while she wins the fight in the end, it is a very close call. How would Muse B react when she fails to stop her? What would Muse A do when he finds out?

-          Muse B and C uncover an assassination plot that aims to put only Muse D on the throne and eliminate the other three. There is no evidence D is even aware such a crusade exists, never mind that she could be one of its commanders. Will B and C trust their instincts and maintain their sister’s innocence, or will they decide to arrest her for treason? What would Muse A do, if faced with the possibility of having to execute his baby sister?

-          Muse A decides to arrange a marriage for himself behind the other three’s backs. They don’t find out until it’s too late, and the bride to be is nearly at their doorstep. The idea was ill-conceived from the start, and Muse A is incapable of forming any sort of rapport with his fiancée, but is unwilling to back-paddle and admit he was wrong. The marriage goes ahead, as he considers the political gains to far outweigh any personal losses, but the relationship between the two of them grows from bad to worse, until his wife flees the country in secret and seeks refuge with her family. How do they handle this situation? BONUS: what made the princess leave?

-          Muse B is usually in charge of diplomacy and marriage treaties. B actually brokers a solid marriage treaty for Muse D, which gets dangerously close to materializing. D is vehemently against the union and fighting ensues. Where do A and C stand on this? How do they react when/if it’s their turn?

These are just suggestions, and I’m fine with all/some/none occurring. They could also have taken place before the present moment and can be explored through flashbacks, or mentioned as points of contention between them.

I imagine A and C as male, and B and D as female, but if you are interested in any of them, and want to change the gender, I am open to the idea.

(NPC Cast)

Melody Johnson(Kylie Bunbury FC): A once superstar singer/songwriter, known for her upbeat pop ballads, who has recently fallen into a funk. Melody has yet to begin another album in the course of a year and a half, and she’s constantly in search of the muse she’d let slip away. With that frustration, she’s also has the toll that her on again off again relationship with Alden Michaels is taking on her. Can she hold onto a love that has been in her life for the past 7 years? Or will she finally let it all slip through her fingers?

Zaria Phelps (Aja Naomie King FC): An actress known for her countless roles in Tyler Perry television shows, and cameos in movies, Zaria is currently the star of the Perry TV adaptation to the movie Temptation. She wants to break out of her type casting roles, but right now she’s unsure how to make it happen.

Graciela Lopez (Karla Souza FC): She, unlike the rest of the cast is one that isn’t often noted as being well known. Graciela up until joining the show stays out of the spotlight as she teaches Hollywood’s up and coming child stars while they are on the go. In between their takes on set, she can be found teaching, tutoring, and educating the young talent as they work. While she has her career all figured out, her personal life is a different battle, having yet to come out to her parents. She wars with herself on the fear of losing them from her life when she’s finally able to share who she really is.

Joel “J” Martinez (Carlos Valdes FC): This shy yet adorkable bachelor can be found as one of the livest Deejays around Los Angeles. Don’t expect him to be anything other than the voice of reason. His unparalleled spinning skills, comes with wisdom beyond his years.

Lorena Hoffman (Logan Browning FC): She has been in the shadows and behind the scenes and just out of our reach since Noah Puckerman joined the cast of LA Nights. Although this popular PR Specialist has it together careerwise, her messy entanglements with Noah Puckerman, her divorce from her husband, proves otherwise in her personal life.

PLOT There’s nothing unusual about four people meeting in freshman year of highschool and staying friends throughout their remaining years and 4 years of university. There is however, something unusual about them graduating and opening Mystery Incorporated; a private eye/ghost hunting business that becomes wildly successful in a very short amount of time complete with it’s own mascot, the childhood pet of Shaggy Rogers, Scooby Doo. Together they travel the country in a van tricked out to comfortably fit four people and a great dane for days on end and solve mysteries.

Mystery Inc. has been in business for a little over a year when Velma receives an email from the Coolsville Police Department. The group’s hometown is being ransacked by a monster that’s killed 2 people and no one’s even seen. Desperate for help from someone that knows how to deal with situations like this Sheriff Morgan has asked the group to return home and investigate before another body turns up. But things in Coolsville aren’t exactly what they seem.

CHARACTERS Fredrick Jones — 23 | the jock  🏈 | open 

fc suggestions: Freddie Stroma, Nathan Stewart-Jarrett, Alexander Ludwig  traits: clever, leaderly, fanatical, dominating  bio: Despite being the youngest of the four friends by a few months, Fred or Freddy has never felt like the baby. A natural born leader he’s known for taking charge when others are afraid to and was the one to pitch the idea of Mystery Inc to the others. With an older brother Fred had always been into sports and was a running back on the Coolsville High football team from sophomore year until his graduation. While Fred didn’t overly enjoy school he did get satisfactory grades and got into university on a football scholarship. He serves as the groups levelhead in tricky situations and still loves to pick up a pigskin every once in awhile.

Daphne Blake — 24 | the damsel not-in-distress 💄| open 

fc suggestions: Sophie Turner, Holland Roden, Elena Satine  traits: adaptive, charming, impractical, stubborn  bio:  The youngest of four daughters Daphne was a princess in every way imaginable. Her old money family loved their only red-haired daughter with all her heart and was not the least bit surprised when she started spending time with the local football star, he other companions, well they mostly ignored them. Daphne was a good student, despite usually feeling like she had more important things to do than figure out what x + y equaled and was part of numerous clubs including being the school newspaper editor. She received a grant from the American Society for Journalists and still enjoys reporting. She’s the creative mastermind behind a lot of the group's schemes and is well liked by all who meet her.

Velma Dinkley — 24 | the nerd  💻 | taken 

fc suggestions: Kiko Mizuhara, Ellen Paige, Arden Cho  traits: intelligent, observant, clumsy, blunt  bio: As an adopted child Velma never really felt like she fit with the rest of her family. She found, from a very young age that her older adopted brother was nothing like her and so turned to books as an escape from the world that didn’t feel welcoming to her. She’d read everything and anything she could get her hands on and this was an asset as she entered school. She’s the only member of the gang that didn’t have their schooling paid for them and still has large student loans that she won’t let anyone pay off for her. She’s the brains of the operation and often has to reign in Freddy when his idea get too grand.

Norville “Shaggy” Rogers — 25 | the stoner  🍟 | open 

fc suggestions: Avan Jogia, Lee Hyun Jae, Jamie Campbell-Bower  traits: creative, humorous, passive, superstitious  bio:  Norville picked up the nickname Shaggy from a preschool teacher that was amused by his refusal to have his haircut and it is still the name he gives people when introducing himself. When, at 13, Shaggy requested a pet from his ever-doting parents he was presented with a great dane that he named Scooby and quickly became his best friend. Due to his parents eccentric nature an impromptu road trip cross country when he was 8 forced him to repeat grade three and as such is the oldest member of Mystery Inc. His parents permanently filled with guilt over the situation paid completely for his higher education and he is forever grateful for it. Shaggy takes on the position of emotional support for the group and can always be found with a cookie and funny story to cheer you up.

OTHER NOTES 

This will start with the gang on the road back home from Perry, Maine which is a 17 hour drive and continue on with the investigation. Once all the roles are filled I’ll be making a collection of things the 4 can do and there will be plot drops regarding clues and such. 

Most of the case info will be decided within the group, I’ll just be providing the press dubbed name and some basic info about the crimes themselves.

There more than likely won’t be a lot of triggering content, this is meant to be mostly light-hearted but just to be safe I am calling this a mature rp. If you’re uncomfortable with smut, swearing or any of the triggers listed above to the point where you can’t even have them on your dash the this may not be the roleplay for you.

I’m not basing this on any particular form of canon and as such any and all ships are welcome. (I know I’d personally be interested in Velma x Daphne if the Daphne’s player is into that.)
