Dreadlock Adventure
I started my dreadlocks 4-11-16. I’m mostly posting this for myself as a keepsake for when I am frustrated with the process. A timeline of sorts to keep me focused. I know what I want. I know what end results I will gain if I am patient enough, which has never been my strong point. I wanted dreads for the first time over 9 years ago. Ordered the kit from Dreadheads.com, even had a friend who was willing to help. Circumstances kept me from committing to the process and to be honest, I let go of that friend as well. About 2 years ago, I put 8 or so in my hair but it was hard to keep it separate and it always looked like crap. This time I took my time, slowly adding 2 or 3 at a time, letting myself get used to the look for a few days and then adding a few more. I added the last one in yesterday. I used the twist and rip method. Not fancy, expensive kits and not even a friend to help. I have washed about 2 to 3 times a week and let them air dry. They dry pretty quickly, probably cause they are still loose and I have whispy tips instead of blunted. I watched a million YouTube videos and found that Lazy dreads videos were the most thorough as well as entertaining so I was more likey to pay attention and actually finish a whole video.
