Name (& sorta personality) headcanons:

2p!italy -> Luciano Vargas

I definitely use the name Luciano for him, but I’m not too sure about his surname. I use Vargas since that’s the 1P’s surname generally, but I’ve considered giving him a different one. Sometimes I consider “Rossini” as his surname, or maybe as a middle name if anything. I’ve considered “Lavazza” as another surname as well—yes, the coffee brand. I mean, he’s from the north after all, and I like to headcanon that’s he more of the Turin (or Milan) region (as opposed to Feli being closer to Venice). The espresso man™️

I’m starting to get a bit off topic, but that’s lowkey on topic for me—-anyways, I like to see the 2Ps as opposites of their 1Ps to some degree, but not polar opposites. Like, they’re still both the same nation, so they’ll have at least some things in common. I like to imagine they’re two sides of the same coin. For example, Feliciano and Luciano are both cowards in my eyes—but in different ways. Physically, Feliciano is a coward (he’s not getting out of that one); he runs away from things and avoids confrontation. Despite this, he’s close with his friends and he’s not afraid to be affectionate. As for Luciano? Emotionally, he is a coward—yes, I will elaborate. He’s a confrontational guy who’s not afraid to scrap with people. If anything, I see him going out of his way to start fights. He doesn’t fear physical altercations necessarily. However, he’s very emotionally distant and cold; he lacks close relationships, and those that he does have, he keeps at arms length. He’s afraid to get close to people; he’s afraid to get hurt and betrayed again. He’d rather protect his ego and image than be honest with those he’s close with. He’d die before he ever admits he loves them. Why?—because he sees it as a weakness. He sees emotions as a personal failing (toxic masculinity if you will). He thinks he portrays himself as strong and independent by stomping down his own emotions, but it’s what makes him a weak person in the end. He’s afraid of commitment; he runs away at the sign of intimacy or any sort of conflict with ‘friends’. He’s a coward in his relationships because he fears losing someone to the point he will cut them off or distance from them to prevent being abandoned again (you see where the BPD comes in?). Even if he’s aware that he loves a friend/person, they will never know. He cannot allow himself to be perceived as “weak”, he’s afraid of that—and that is what ends up being his Achilles’ heel; being hyper-independent/isolated is not the strength he makes it out to be.

to be fair, I think all 2Ps have their own issues with intimacy, but I think it’s particularly unique with 2p!italy. Sure, he’s agile and strategic, and maybe even strong in his own ways. But he has weaknesses that he tries so desperately to hide because he’s deathly afraid of being perceived as “weak”. And in a paradoxical way, this makes him a coward.

2p!Japan -> Kuro Honda

I think he goes by different names sometimes, but I mainly stick to this name for him. Even if it’s sort of a silly name for him, I’ve grown fond of it 💔.

I like to imagine Kuro is closer to the Sendai region of Japan (while Kiku is somewhere more south); this is mainly based off of a Japanese friend I used to know who is from Sendai (some aspects of Kuro’s personality are based off of him. It’s a long story though).

2p!Germany -> Lutz Beilschmidt

Ironic considering Lutz is a nickname for the name “Ludwig”. I don’t write him too much so I guess I never thought to give him a different name. Although if I had to change it, I’d go with Luther.

I like to imagine his name is actually Luther or something else, but everyone calls him Lutz so he just goes along with it because he’s too polite to say anything 💔🥀.

I like to imagine he is one of the very few sane 2Ps, and that he takes on this fatherly figure/role to them; this man is surprisingly patient with these psychos.

General gender & sexuality headcanons:

2p!italy -> he/him only

cisman, but he questions being agender (he doesn’t like to label himself as nonbinary though). (I like to write him as a transman sometimes, but this is how I mainly present him)

Homosexual. 100%. Used to claim he was straight due to religious trauma/etc, but had a queer awakening at some point. He tries to hide the fact he’s gay a lot though. He still flirts with everyone, but he flirts for fun rather than out of attraction.

“Women are still pretty” - he is a girl’s girl (you don’t have to be attracted to people to find them beautiful, after all)

He considered himself aroace before he found out he was homosexual in particular. He thought he wasn’t attracted to anyone, but turns out he’s demiromantic & greyromantic; the attraction he does feel is rare and often fleeting. This may be in part due to his paranoia and issues with trust, but who knows.

He’s asexual, but is neutral when it comes to sex and romance. He seems more likely to have sex (with someone he knows) than be in a relationship (I chalk this up to his trust issues again).

2p!Japan -> he/it but mainly goes by he/him

The Creature™️. He refers to himself as a man, but is definitely agender. He prefers to present in a masculine way, but is not opposed to presenting in feminine ways. I’d sum it up as “agender man” if that makes sense. (I also like to write him as a transman, but this is mainly how I present him. T4T 2p itapan is lowkey peak. Some with Yandere4Yandere 2p itapan; I see them as both Yandere to some degree, but I think they present differently. I’d probably elaborate on their Yan dynamics in a different post).

Allosexual. (Sex is unfortunately an unhealthy coping mechanism for him, but I will elaborate on that some other time). Not as important but—he has a preference to topping, but I can see him being a switch; if it means having sex, then he’s willing to bottom. Top/Bottom ≠ Dom/Sub though; I still see him as more of a dominant person, even when bottoming.

Demiromantic and greyromantic. Despite jumping into romantic relationships constantly, he often doesn’t realize that what he feels is obsession/limerence rather than romantic attraction. Once he gets bored and/or the high dies down, he jumps to a new relationship. He doesn’t realize he’s demi; he thinks he’s alloromantic due to his desire for a relationship/closeness.

Another homosexual. He is a man liker

2p!Germany -> he/they/it but he goes by he/him publicly. He’s interested in neopronouns, but has not tried them out.

Aroace. He doesn’t really know the term for it, but when he discovers it, it feels right. Non-partnering specifically. He is generally romance and sex repulsed.

They prefer familial and platonic relationships.

2ptalia has no actual content in terms of chapters, but the concept itself as well as several 2p Designs are canon. Himaruya just basically shared several designs and claimed he had drawn these characters reimagining them as if they ran "an evil organization". The term "2p" refers to the trend of several multiplayer games (such as the Smash Bros. series) to give the 2nd player (the "2P") a character with a different color scheme in case they select the same character as Player One.

Japan, Italy and Germany are the only characters to have been given a canon color palette for their 2p Versions. The most common portrayal of 2p!America, 2p!England and 2p!France originates from their 2p!Nyo!Counterparts, which unlike the guys have canon designs:

Nyo!China and Nyo!Russia received 2p designs too, but interestingly the fandom didn't seem to have used them much as a base for the most popular portrayal of their male 2p counterparts. Nyo!Canada and Nyo!Prussia received a 2p colored artwork too:

There are, then, sketches that have "2p" in their file name. These are believed to be the canon 2p portrayals of the Allies:

I think the one on the left is meant to be 1p!Russia for reference as Hima worked on the 2p design. I think the final design for 2p!Russia would've been the one on the bottom. Note the lack of scarf probably standing for him having lost it completely.

Interestingly, the tentative 2p!China design on the right seems to have been repurposed as a base for Gangsta!China, judging from their hairstyle.

Austria possibly also received a canon 2p as he appears in a sketch alongside what are pretty clearly 2p!Italy and 2p!Germany despite the lack of color. It is unclear whether Japan is meant to be his 2p counterpart or not, however, since his outfit looks closer to the one Kiku wears:

The same blog entry also has a couple more sketches which do not appear to portray any 2p. Another artwork that is believed to be a 2p is this alternate coloring for Poland, as it had "2p color" written beneath as a description of the picture:

Interestingly, this is the very first mention of 2Ps, as the blog entry with Poland dates back to 2008, whereas everything (well, the little we have of it) else belonging to 2ptalia was posted between 2011 and 2013.
