why i like him: i like that he's smart, and he's kind of a dick sometimes in that he can be single-minded when it comes to getting his way, and he's caring, that his bad actions come ultimately from a place of deep caring. i like that in many ways he is, like. booker. that they caught before it festered for a century plus. i like that he does the right thing as soon as he's offered a chance to do it, but not a second before. i like his sad blue sweaters.
favorite scene: when he and nile meet. beautifully acted on both parts
favorite line: perhaps in tog deleted scene when nicky says "we are usually a better judge of character" and copley looks at the dead guards and says "so am i" or something of that nature. i didnt hallucinate this did i?

otp: i have a complicated chart in my head mapping out copley's relationship with booker and tuah, as you may know, but it basically boils down to copley/tuah being endgame and booker being Forever Alone

why i like her: goddddddd we could be here all day. i love that she's an ACTIVE character (side eyes a movie) who makes hard moral decisions in the face of other, more senior characters telling her not to. i love that she's competent. i love that she's NOT the baby of the team, but she's so fucking young. i love that she feels it, because you've gotta feel it.
favorite scene: probably booker and nile on the thames SIMPLY FOR THE VISUAL of booker in black looking out at the water where a hangman's noose is set and nile facing the other way in white and red and gold angelic hoops. god. also i love the scene generally but, like,
favorite line: when andy says, "you come from warriors." i was genuinely not expecting nile to so confidently reply, "yeah, i do," and it did something to me.
favorite outfit: white jacket + red shirt + track pants + sneakers + dog tags + cross + gold hoops + braids.
otp: i dont particularly ship nile with anyone tbh. she's flirty n free. i think the au where she is in a romantic relationship with booker's timetraveling wife is very funny, tho.

headcanon: she picks up languages quickly but has a paint-peeling chicago accent in all of them.
unpopular opinion: joe and nicky arent her dads, or even her big brothers. theyre all fucking adults. she's a baby immortal compared to them but she's a grown-ass person and just as mature as them, really, just not as ancient.
a wish: that she has another chance to shine.
an oh-god-please-dont-ever-happen: what bothered me most about 2o2g, really, beyond the plot i didnt like and chars i didnt like, was that nile was stripped of her agency and her motivation. so for that not to happen again

why i like her: she's so resilient!!! i love her anger. its justified and yet misplaced. she's so strong, and hurting, and sympathetic, and she's still doing things that hurt good people for bad reasons. we love nuance
favorite scene: probably her custody meeting with andy in rome.
favorite line: "has she spoken of me?" to booker about andy.
favorite outfit: she has SO MANY good ones. i really liked that patterned long-sleeved blouse with her hair in a bun in 2o2g.

I truly believe the way The Old Guard fandom pretty much died after the second film came out should be studied. Like, has there ever been such a terrible follow-up in any series, movie or television, that it killed all passion anyone had for it? Remarkable stuff.
