I know a lot of people talk about Zuko’s swordsmanship being a result of him wanting to have ~something~ to be great at when he believed he couldn’t be a great firebender, or him wanting something to be distinctly his own, and I have no doubt either of those things are a huge part of it, but I think it’s got something to do with how he was first exposed to it, too: his first knife was a gift from Iroh, and I think part of it was that he simply wanted to make the most out of what he had been given by one of his favorite relatives.

It’s so nice to see Zuko teaching Lee a little about swordfighting. He’s patient, not hypercritical, shows his approval readily.
And so different than his father
There’s so much cognitive dissonance in the final scene of this ep., you can see it in the way the villagers watch Zuko go. This kid’s the prince of the nation that has brought all of them incredible hardships, but he’s just saved one of their own, and he’s supposedly a pariah within the Fire Nation? How do you navigate that?
And it makes total sense for Lee to give the knife back! It’s a weapon of the Fire Nation! It’s a symbol of what took his brother from him, what took his father from him! He doesn’t have to forgive Zuko for what he’s been complicit in.
