You share because you care.
Bismillahirrahmanirrahiim
Alhamdulillah we have reached the last 10 nights of Ramadhan. The night that every Muslims and Mu’mins have been anticipating and waiting for. Keen and eager in searching for the special night. The night of power. The night that is better than a thousand months. It is the night of Al-Qadr. May Allah SWT grant us with the opportunity to meet this extraordinary night, night of power, insyaAllah.
In this entry, I will share about sharing. ^^ Sharing by definition is to have a portion of (something) with another or others. The act of sharing is not only considered a good act but also an important one as it has the ability to avoid instability and unbalance in things. Be it in political, environmental as well as social aspects. In polity, power sharing is a good way to avoid political instability and hence maintain political order in a country. The convergence of environmental awareness and consumer culture has created a new movement today whereby sharing is cool. Indeed, some environmentalists view sharing as key to maintaining our quality of life and our sanity in an increasingly cluttered world. One of the reporter in Shareable, an online magazine that tells the story of sharing, reported, “In a shareable world, things like car sharing, clothing swaps, childcare coops, potlucks, and cohousing make life more fun, green, and affordable.” In an interesting study conducted by The New York Times Customer Insight Group, it was discovered that there are five key reasons people decide to share something with others. One of the reasons is ‘to grow and nourish our relationships’. 78% share information online because it lets them stay connected to people they may not otherwise stay in touch with, socially.
The previous point stated, mainly us sharing with other people, brings me to discuss further on sharing in a macro level perspective. Sharing can be divided into three. Sharing with others itself, sharing with yourself and ultimately sharing with your Creator and Sustainer, Allah SWT.
Sharing with people, such as sharing of things you love with your loved ones. Sharing of food for iftaar with your neighbours is one of the highlighted deeds in this holy month of Ramadhan. When we share with others, not only a better life is possible, but so is a better world. Other than that, sharing of advices and knowledge is also part of sharing with others. Sharing here refers to both get and give, seek and contribute. As stated by the Prophet (ﷺ) in a hadith:
“The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “The deen (religion) is naseehah (advice, sincerity).” We (the Companions RA) said, “To whom?” He (ﷺ) said, “To Allah, His Book, His Messenger, and to the leaders of the Muslims and their common folk.” [Narrated by Muslim]”
So basically, sharing is for everyone.
Next, is sharing with yourself. This includes, personal diary writings, daily journal - simply a summary of your activities and thoughts for memories. This concept is similar to the Islamic concept of muhasabah or reflection. Try this every night before you sleep, reflect on the things you did for the day, if it was something beneficial, praise Allah, if it wasn’t, then plan to do better the next day. Forgive people too before you close your eyes, you will sleep better I tell you (based on personal experience). This practice will make you a better individual insyaAllah.
Finally and ultimately, sharing with Allah. It is not only du’a or supplications during or after the five daily prayers, but at any time, any place. Allah is the most Hearing and most Understanding. He is also the best of Solver for our problems. Allah mentioned in Surah Ghafir of the Quran in verse 60;
“And your Lord says, ‘Call upon Me; I will respond to you.’ Indeed, those who disdain My worship will enter Hell [rendered] contemptible.”
Share with Allah, for Allah is very near to you. Although He knows everything about you, even the slightest intention in your little hearts, He is still willing to listen to your prayers and reply them, as mentioned in the verse above.
In conclusion, sharing is the key in one’s life. Human is a social being. We cannot live alone by ourselves. We need society to live our life. We need the company of others. We need each other to survive. And of course, we need sharing. Because sharing is caring, and I care for all of you. ☺
Thank you for spending your time reading. Sorry for any shortcomings from my part. All that is good comes from Allah SWT. Wallahu a’lam.
