I watched MHA movie 3 and its OVA, woo. The OVA I feel nondescript about, it was fine. The movie was actually pretty good! Lots of varied settings and way better art design made for a nice visual palette cleanser after s5 being ugly as sin, and of course the numerous sakuga cuts are all dope as shit too - I’d say visually the only thing I wasn’t into was some of the choreography choices in the final fight looked a little goofy, but in general this was really fun to look at. And then in terms of plot like, it was surprisingly not that shit for a MHA movie? Compared to others there’s nothing about it that super aggressively screams “obviously non-canon” and it’s not distractingly fanservicey either, the villains are shit at the beginning but end up being fairly well realised by the end and it was actually cathartic seeing them be overcome. Moreover the companion character for this movie - Rody - is like, unironically really easy to like and cheer for, I was actually having fun with his screentime. Suppose just “having fun” is what this movie was lol, like it’s just a rock solid shounen movie that doesn’t fall into a lot of the trapping that the two prior MHA movies did and stuff. Good time. Recommend.
