『世間胸算用』に、大晦日（おおつごもり）は闇だ、とあるのを見て、新暦だと季節感ばかりでなく、夜の感覚も狂うことに気づきました。月齢が基準の旧暦だと、晦日は月の出ない闇夜になるわけです。正月には、春になるだけでなく、夜の闇が明るくなっていく、というダブルイメージがあったのですね。
