I cannot do justice to this show. I simply can't. The idea of even attempting to do so intimidates me. Look, anime is still great. Lots of amazing shows come out all the time and even that rarest of peaks that upper echelon of quality, the genuine 10/10, yeah I mean you get those every couple of years, sometimes more often than that even. This hasn't even been a bad year for anime either - we're a season removed from the incredibly ambitious and excellently unconventional Shiboyugi adaptation and Kamiina Botan itself aired right alongside a dream adaptation of acclaimed series Witch Hat Atelier. Start talking about the 2020s as a whole and there are so many incredible shows worth remembering when the decade is over, and can be reflected on as a whole. And yet even so. Kamiina Botan is just special. I'm kind of losing my mind here remembering the whole yeah there's no chief animation director or lead storyboard artist or whatever other thing for the show as a whole like this is 12 different groups of peoples' work here and each and every single one of them commands utter mastery of their craft, it should hardly even be possible for a production like this to come together so holistically. It doesn't even feel real, some slice of life drama college yuri manga about drinking resonated with the hearts of people so strongly that it got given this treatment, that we were allowed to experience this. I don't even feel like I'm being hyperbolic either I feel like this time next year I'll still be losing my shit thinking about how fucking incredible this show is. What an honest to god treat. I'm so so happy to have been able to watch this and this is the saddest I've been about a show finishing in years.
