Mental illness is a serious thing that should not be misunderstood. It does not just mean that you're sad, or that you just don't feel motivated one day, but it means this for all days. It means that it takes every single bit of your being to get up for the day, or to talk to people, or to eat something, or to be able to do your work, or to sleep, or to feel comfortable in your own skin, or to function in general. Mental illness should not be something taken lightly. Don't call me a disease and don't call me whiny. Hold me and love me and help me understand that there is a reason for me to be in this world. I don't need another person trying to tell me I'm unimportant or overdramatic. I don't need another person thinking they know more about me than I know about myself. I need someone that will be there for me if I need them just like I would be there for them. So please don't take mental illness lightly, because it's a real thing and those who go through it deserve some respect because they are super heroes.
