Dublin was a port town. Gloomy sailors paced the streets during breaks from long sea voyages, tired from their life aboard swaying cargo vessels and cruise ferries. The other denizens of Ireland weren’t often much cheerier, though despite their apparently melancholic demeanor they enjoyed chatting. It was not at all uncommon for a total strange to shout across the street to another simply to ask if that person was from Scotland or to talk about the day’s plans with a random stranger who happened to be next to them on the tram. The general atmosphere of Dublin was a strange mixture of introverted city and classic Irish willingness for “gab.” There seemed to be a pub every two feet in Dublin, and the results of heavy drinking were seen plainly in the mornings. Bottles were often scattered on the street along with other litter, and finding lost articles of clothing in the canals or on the side of the cobbled lanes was not an uncommon occurrence. The main attraction of Dublin most certainly seemed to be its plentiful alcohol, though it was oft mentioned by the Irishmen from out of town (from Cork or perhaps Belfast) that Dublin was woefully overpriced in every respect, but especially regarding the whiskey and beer. One of the biggest attractions in Dublin was the Guiness production plant, right next to one of the main out of town railway stations. Dublin was also a city covered in green. Though the streets were gray and most often covered in a rainy grit, the planters and arks flourished in the constant downpour, and the color green adorned signs, flags, and the buildings themselves. The city itself may have been gray, but it was easy to assume that if an Irishman bled, it might very well be in green. The blue sea was right up against the city itself, but the Eire is green. And when one manages to get beyond the bounds of downtown, it becomes clear as to why. Ireland is extraordinarily green. Much like its cousin Scotland, Ireland’s rains produce thick, lush greenery on every hill and heath. If one wants to truly get to know Ireland, it is not within the borders of Dublin that it is best to do it.

Heute haben wir mal richtig ausgeschlafen und relaxt. Wir gingen mal durchs ganze Ganze Hotel und haben uns den "Circus" das Casino, den eigenen Freizeitpark drinnen und den Pool abgeschaut. Den Pool haben wir sogar getestet. Der Pool bestand aus 2 kleinen Becken die eigentlich nur mit Chlor anstatt mit Wasser gefüllt waren, 2 Whirlpools und 4 Bademeister für die 2 winzigen Becken. Nach dem lauwarmen Wasser im Pool gingen wir zusammen zum Eingang unseres Hotels und suchten eine Show für den heutigen Abend aus. Wir haben uns für Elvis entscheiden da dies einfach die günstigste war und wir keine 100$ für eine Karte ausgeben wollten. Also gingen wir dann auch schon bald los um noch vor der Show etwas zu essen. Angekommen in einem anderen Hotel wo die Show stattfindet, gingen wir rein und haben erstmal gelacht. Wir kamen rein in den Saal wo die Show stattfindet und es waren nur Ca.30 Leute da und der Saal und die Bühne war klein. Wir hatten nämlich eigentlich eine Riesen Show mit 2000 Gästen erwartet aber es war eben eine kleine. Der Elvis Double war echt gut er hat gesungen, getanzt, gesprochen und den gleichen Humor wie der echte Elvis und er kam auch einfach zu uns runter und stieg auf die Stühle und hat gesungen. Am Ende mussten wir einfach ein Foto mit ihm machen. Danach gingen wir noch in Ein riesiges Einkaufszentrum das überdacht war. Die Decke war ein riesiger Bildschirm und hat die Plakate der Bands angezeigt die darunter laut gespielt haben. Außerdem konnte man durch das Einkaufszentrum "fliegen" an einem Drahtseil wie man das vielleicht aus Kletterärten kennt. Danach mussten wir noch eine halbe Stunde ins Hotel gefahren und sind dann um 02:30 Uhr schlafen gegangen.

1. I met up with my cousin and nephew this morning, we went to a soft play centre and then for a walk and lunch. The boys had such a good time, I also had a great time.
